John W. Fitzgerald photograph collection, 1877-1980.

This collection contains photographs and negatives collected by John W. Fitzgerald of himself, his father (William Commodore Fitzgerald), his family, co-workers, friends and his grandfather (John Fitzgerald). Also included are the images of the Draper Sunday School (where his grandfather was superintendent) and of his siblings. In addition, there is a photo album detailing John W. Fitzgerald's travels with his friends while in college. There are several group photographs including the Draper Sunday School 1877, Junior Traffic Patrol School 1953-1954, Draper School Orchestra 1920-1921, and several photos from Morningside Elementary, where he was superintendent. The collection also includes a large number of negatives, without matching photographs. There is also the remnants of a photograph album by John W. Fitzgerald which includes photographs of Maeser Prep Academy and his acquaintances. Also includes photographs of the Utah Scientific Research Foundation buildings.

John Williams Fitzgerald (1907- ) spent the majority of his adult life as a professional educator. He served both as a seminary teacher in the LDS Church, and as a principal in Salt Lake County's Granite School District. He also served professionally as a chaplain in the United States Army during World War II and continued this service with the Utah National Guard until his retirement in 1967.
